Post subject: DreadBall Team Strategy

Thought I might start assembling some simplistic pointers on DreadBall teams. Please chip in with your thoughts/nuggets.

Corporation

  • Strengths
    • Very average at everything (4+).
  • Weaknesses
    • Very average at everything (4+).
  • Links
    • None

Marauders

  • Strengths
    • Some strong players (Orx/Guards) 3+.
    • Some reasonably skilful players (Goblin/Jack) 4+ which can also run the ball well (speed 3+).
  • Weaknesses
    • Orx/Guards have poor speed, so vulnerable to slams from behind.
  • Links
    • None

Forge Fathers

  • Strengths
    • Strong players. 3+ slams.
    • Reasonably skilful. 4+ moving the ball around.
  • Weaknesses
    • Slow! Run 4 hexes. Need to keep scoring players upfield.
    • Poor speed ability (5+). Struggle to dash, evade and dodge.
    • Strikers cannot slamback and are poor dodgers (5+) so keep away from threatening opposition!
  • Links

Veermyn

  • Strengths
    • High movement (6 hexes).
    • Good speed skill (3+). Dodge all incoming trouble!
  • Weaknesses
    • No Jacks.
    • Guards not especially powerful (4+ slams), use carefully to create gaps in threat zones.
  • Links
    • None

Thought I’d mention that there have now been many hundreds of game results recorded in an online database: http://db.chezalex.net (including ours’!).

The results are starting to suggest some teams are stronger/weaker against certain opposition. Most interesting of all is how the Corporation dominates the tables.

The results don’t say how many games were played with starting teams. I’m expecting to see a Corporation side really strengthen with a little experience.

Guys, as you found out last night, the teams obviously have their own strengths and weaknesses. Have a look at the post above to see the main strengths/weaknesses for each team. Hopefully we could add to these are our experience with the teams increase.

Apparently FF are storming in others’ DB leagues so don’t be disheartened by how you are finding the teams now. Both the player’s/team’s and your experience will expand, develop and improve!

Beast of War have begun a DreadBall Academy series. I don’t know if I can justify watching an hour and a half…of just the first episode, nevermind tolerate that amount of time with the annoying Irish anchor. I’ve got it on in the background and will listen out for any nuggets.

Potentially more accessible is an unassociated DreadBall Academy wiki.
